[fu'je], Alfred, französischer Philosoph, * La Pouëze (nordwestlich von Angers) 18. 10. 1838, ✝ Lyon 16. 7. 1912; Stiefvater von J. M. Guyau; vertrat einen von Platon ausgehenden evolutionistischen Idealismus, der das Wesen und die Ursache der Wirklichkeit auf das Wirken dynamischer Ideenkräfte (»Idées-forces«) zurückführt. Er strebte auf dieser Basis in der Ethik eine Vermittlung von sittlicher Freiheit und naturhafter Notwendigkeit an: Der innere Begehrungsvorgang trete außen als Entwicklung in Erscheinung.
